Dog update...or not
It's been a long time since I posted - but really, nothing's new. I helped out with teaching an agility class this past spring/summer but didn't take any of my dogs. The four are all still alive and doing well.

PetSmart Costume Contest
I have been working very hard on a costume for Buddy this year. I initially thought there would be a contest here in town put on by a rescue group. Well the ad I saw was for 2006 and as it turns out no one in town was hosting a contest after all. I had gotten Lara excited about this prospect already and we had both purchased our material and gotten started on costumes when we found out there wouldn't be a contest. So Lara decided to have her own contest. She has planned and invited the town and we anticipate at least 20 dogs to her party which will be next Monday evening.Since I went to all this work on a costume I decided to make the most of it and took Buddy up to PetSmart tonight to their costume contest as well. (Trial run)
First we stopped by the model train store for Matt, and Levi helped me pick out some magazines for Larry at work.
Then we went to Granny's Buffet and ate dinner (thanks to Matt's grandpa for the gift card) :)
Then we went to PetSmart for the contest. I got Buddy dressed up in the parking lot. His costume is a little cumbersome, when he shakes it slips around and once his horse tail fell off and I had to put it back on.In case you are wondering, he is supposed to be a "Charger" a medieval jousting horse.
Matt counted at least 20 dogs at PetSmart. There were some cute and clever costumes but the majority of them were store-bought costumes. When Buddy walked in I could hear the gasps and "wow, look at THAT one..." Lots of people came by to comment on Buddy's costume, most wanted to know if I had made it and then sounded impressed when I told them I had put in many hours on it. The unfortunate thing for Buddy was that the weight of the blanket kept pulling his mask back, which left him without vision for part of the evening. But he was such a good sport, he did not try to paw it off or anything.
There was one cat there who was on a leash and all dressed up. It won an honorable mention just for being a good sport.
Then they announced the winners at 8 pm. The judges were the petsmart employees.
3rd place was a very nice Boxer who was dressed up as a baby. It had on adult diapers with a GIANT fake safety pin, a giant pacifier around his neck, a giant blue baby bonnet and a bib that said "got milk?" It was pretty darn cute.Second place was... my BUDDY! Wahoo!
First place went to a man and his dog who both had dressed up as Elvis. They came as "The Elvis twins" and Matt and I thought they were very deserving for first place. We didn't get a photo of them.
There were some other original costumes and I enjoyed seeing them and talking with everyone. There was one Boston Terrier in a skeleton t-shirt. A sweet little dog.
Buddy was the only pit bull there, and was so well mannered.
I should have coming to me in the mail a costume for Levi that will make him a Knight for our costume party at Lara's Howl-o-ween celebration. I thought that would be cute.

Missy Wins Dog Race
Tonight at the very end of the Eddie MacMurdo horse show were the "World Famous Championship Dog Races" The rules are simple. Two people to a dog - one person holds the dog at the end of the arena while the other person goes to the opposite end of the arena. When the announcer says "GO" the handlers holding the dog let go while the other handler calls the dog. The dogs race across the arena and the first handler at the opposite end to get a secure hold of their dog wins the division. Two divisions: small dogs and big dogs.
There were five dogs in the small dog division and when the announcer said "Go" Missy had a bit of a slow start. She kind of ran along with the other dogs, somewhat confused, until she saw me. Then I was able to lift her up about the same time someone else got a hold of their dog. The judge could not determine who the clear winner was so they had us do a run-off. This time Missy knew what to expect and came barreling straight to me. Again, the other dog was faster (longer legs) but Missy has co-dependancy working in her favor. It was easy to catch her while the other dog was having too much fun to be restrained. So we were declared the winners and had our photo taken by the professional photographer with the judge and our basket of dog goodies that we were awarded.
Very fun! We will go back next year!
This year the dog races started about 10:30 and I was home by 11 pm.

About Us
Welcome to our home on the web. We are Matt & Shana Bobbitt of WA state.I (Shana) was introduced to the American Pit Bull Terrier in 1996, and started showing Goblyn with the United Kennel Club in 1997. The acquistion of "Buddy" in 1998 started my "title-earning" quest when he rocketed to his Championship in quick fashion. He has since become the 11th dog in UKC to earn titles in four areas (conformation, obedience, agility & weight pull).
My great-grandmother raised Boston Terriers and I always had fond memories of them as a child, so with the purchse of my first home in 2001, a Boston was also added to the mix. "Missy" has been a fantastic companion and hopefully will also be a Super Dog soon.
Our APBT is UKC registered and Purple Ribbon Bred. Our Boston Terriers are dual AKC and UKC registered. We subscribe to the Breeders Code of Ethics.
Our dogs are bred for excellence in conformation and temperment, as well as companionship, with special focus on the health and preservation of the breed. We believe in the "Total Dog" and compete in conformation, obedience, weight pull, and agility. We hope that you will take a moment and look around the site.

In Loving Memory...

'PR' Yankee Pride Hobgoblyn (a.k.a. Goblyn) was my first UKC registered American Pit Bull Terrier. Shown many times, she never did get the majors she needed to finish, although she easily had the 100 points. She was down from Amber-Lite breeding. Bred by Janelle Hongel of Yankee Pride kennels in Washington State, she got me started on the road to chasing titles and "doing stuff" with my dogs. May she rest in peace, sweet little girl.
'PR' Amberlt Colriv Dream Come True (a.k.a. "Uma") was my replacement for Goblyn, many years later. However it was not to be. She stole our hearts and would take turns cleaning out the ears on the Bostons. Uma developed some temperament problems and was laid to rest about 10 months old.
UWP CH 'PR' Preacher's Exclusive Enzo CGC TT was my ideal of what an American Pit Bull Terrier should be. Conformationally correct, he earned his championship with ease even taking a Best of Winners. He had lovely effortless movement, and a rock stable temperament. Bred by Parish Plumlee in Washington state, he was also down from Amber-Lite lines. He also earned his weight pull title without too much trouble and seemed to enjoy the challenge. He was friendly and athletic and everything one could want in a dog. Unfortunately for Enzo, he started having seizures. They were occasional to start with but it wasn't long before they became more frequent and started affecting his quality of life. Putting him on pheno didn't seem to help and with a very heavy heart we made the difficult decision to put him down. If only they could all be like him...
